Best app to open P7M files on Mac, iPhone or iPad?
Received a P7M attachment you cannot read? Open it in EU Docs to inspect the enclosed document on your Apple device. Supported invoice payloads become a readable view, so you can check the supplier, totals and tax without uploading the file. This guide is written by Eutopix Labs, the app’s developer.

If the document does not display as expected
Keep the original filename and check that the download is complete. Renaming XML, P7M or ASiC files to PDF does not convert them. If a signed container opens, check the type of its extracted payload: it may be an invoice, PDF or another format requiring its own reader.
For an invoice, compare the document identifier, supplier, currency, tax and total with the original fields. Report an unsupported format with its non-sensitive format/version details; avoid sending private documents unless you choose an appropriate support channel.

Identify the job
Keep the original P7M and decide whether you need its payload, a readable invoice, or signature verification. Renaming the extension does not unwrap the container.

Choose EU Document Opener for private reading
The app handles supported P7M containers locally and can continue into supported PDF and XML invoice payloads. It suits a reader who receives a signed attachment in Mail or Files and wants to understand its contents on iPhone, iPad or Mac.
Its useful distinction is the combined container-and-invoice workflow. It also checks the CAdES signature offline against the EU trusted lists bundled in the app and shows separately whether the signature matches the document, whether the signer chains to a provider on the EU trusted lists and is qualified, whether the certificate was valid at signing time and which signature level (B, T, LT or LTA) is present. It is not a signing service, accounting ledger or official validation service. Unsupported payloads may need their own application.
Choose an official service when a legal result is required
For legal purposes, use an official validation service such as the EU DSS validation service or the AgID verifier. Aruba documents signing and verification with Aruba Sign. InfoCert documents signing, verification and timestamp workflows with InfoCert Sign / GoSign. Check the provider documentation for supported systems, certificates, account requirements and licence limits.
We have not run a comparative hands-on benchmark of these providers. Their presence here identifies a different workflow, not a claim that one product has better legal validity or better performance.
A practical test before choosing
Use one document with known content. Check whether the viewer preserves the original, identifies the payload correctly and exposes the information you need. For an invoice, compare invoice number, supplier, totals and tax breakdown rather than judging only the appearance of the preview.
If you need an organisation-approved validation result, ask which verification process is required. A readable payload or an offline check in a reading app does not by itself establish that result.

Is the best P7M reader also a digital-signature validator?
Not in the legal sense. EU Document Opener checks P7M signatures offline against the EU trusted lists included in the app and shows each result separately, which helps you spot problems. It is not an official validation. For legal purposes, use an official validation service such as the EU DSS validation service or the AgID verifier.
Can I use a normal PDF reader?
A PDF reader may open the extracted PDF, but a P7M-aware tool is needed to unwrap a supported P7M container first.
